1. Applications to transfer from a master’s program without thesis to a master's program with thesis must be made within one week from the date the final exam grades for the fall semester are announced, and within one month from the date of the announcement of the final exam grades for the spring semester.
2. A student who wishes to transfer to a master's program with thesis must study at least one semester in the non-thesis master's program in which he is enrolled and must successfully complete all the courses taken during the relevant semester.
3. The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of the courses taken in the non-thesis master's program in which the student is enrolled must be at least 2.50 out of 4.00. The (CGPA) can be increased with the recommendation of the relevant program and the approval of the Institute Board.
4. The student who wants to transfer to the master's program with thesis must get at least 55 points from the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES). ALES scores are valid for 5 years. ALES score can be increased with the recommendation of the relevant Department and the approval of the Institute Board. ALES
5. In order to transfer to master's programs with thesis where the language of instruction is a foreign language, the students must provide satisfactory language score documents taken Foreign Language Examination (YDS) or Higher Education Council Foreign Language Examination (YÖKDİL) or an equivalent score from the foreign language exam score accepted by ÖSYM or the Foreign Language Proficiency by IZU, which is accepted by the relevant program. It is obligatory to get the required score of B2 or 70/100 from the exam. The validity period of the foreign language exam to be held by IZU is two years.
6. The time spent in the previous program of a student who is transferred from a non-thesis master's program to a master's program with thesis is included in the calculation of the period of study. The time spent in the previous program of the student who is transferred from the master's program with thesis to the non-thesis master's program is included in the calculation of the education period, but the student who has finished his education period is given an additional semester to complete his courses and his master's project.
7. Students who have transferred from a master's program with thesis to a non-thesis master's program cannot transfer to a master's program with thesis again.
8. A student who transferred from a non-thesis master's program to a master's program with thesis must fulfil the publication requirement of the program with thesis in order to graduate. The publication can be one of the following, provided that it is related to the thesis subject or program:
- A paper presented at national or international scientific meetings,
- An article published in a refereed/indexed journal, accepted for publication or with a DOI number,
- A paper presented at the symposiums organized by IZU in the fields of Social sciences and Science.
9. The student who transfers to the master's program with thesis must pay the difference between the fees of the Master's Programs with Thesis and Non-Thesis, determined by the Board of Trustees for the year in which s/he transfers to the program with thesis. No refund is made to the student who transfers from a master's program with thesis to a non-thesis master's program.
